He worked for the famous DANIELI Group at their global headquarters in Italy. Prior to that he was with Tata Steel, Jamshedpur. His professional work made him visit more than 30 countries around the world. After his return to India he founded this company in his hometown Kolkata.

He has received numerous national and international awards for his contribution in the world steel industry. He received the most prestigious National Award from the Govt. of India for innovation and technology development. He was recipient of the ArcelorMittal Quality and Productivity Award from Brazil, JFTC Award from Japan, The Independent Newspaper Fellowship, and the Daniel Doncaster Prize from the UK, and the Tata Fellowship from Tata Steel, India. He contributed more than 100 publications in prestigious national and international journals. He has a number of patents including an international one. He is associated with many of the top international professional organisations.
